CustomWeather Ski Outlook for Winter 2002-2003

10 Western and Eastern Ski Resorts

SAN FRANCISCO — November 18, 2002 — The weather for the upcoming 2002 – 2003 ski season will likely favor many Southwestern ski resorts, making it a good winter to head to ski resorts across Southern California, Arizona, and New Mexico. The weak El Nino that is in place is expected to bring above-normal snowfall in those areas. Ski resorts across the Northern Rockies, Pacific Northwest, and Midwest may see relatively milder, drier conditions with below-normal amounts of snow and above-normal temperatures.

New England is expected to sail through this winter with near normal snowfall and slightly above normal temperatures. The best bet for skiing on the East Coast will be across Northern New England and resorts on the eastern and northern spine of the Appalachians. Dry weather is forecasted to continue along the western spine of the Appalachians with areas such as West Virginia expected to have a rather dry, mild winter.
